Special Dayzzzzz

One thing that I really love about the pre-school where Max and Neveah go this year is that instead of celebrating birthdays (bc so many happen in the summer and stuff), every child has an assigned "special day". The cool thing about this for our family is that they each get their own day and do not have to share like they do their birthday! It was so much fun celebrating each of them on a separate day!

The nugget got to have her special day first... it was very exciting!! Of course I forgot to take my camera to school with us so Ill have to wait for their teacher to send me hers later on. First we had to make a special poster that was all about Neveah. I had a slight glimpse into the future of making projects together and me having to use my restraint in making the poster a work by Neveah and not myself! We made her name in rainbow letters because she loves rainbows, she drew pictures of things that she loves for it, and went through MANY of our pictures on iphoto to choose just the right ones for the poster. The final touch was the butterflies all over it... It makes me so happy that her favorite things are butterflies and rainbows. She got to pick what she was going to wear all by herself (not pictured bc this is a different day). They made crowns at school so she got to wear it all day and be the line leader.

While Neveah was planning out her special day Max was planning his as well (which came 2 months later), literally he was laying out the outfit he wanted to wear that morning and was going to leave it out until his day. That kid is not great at sharing the spotlight with the sister... There was also a big debate in our house that morning because the whole family gets to go visit on the special day... Neveah said that she would sit up front with Mama & Daddy and that Max would have to sit on the floor with the rest of the class. Max was insistent that he would also sit up front with us because he is part of the family...

When we got to school John and I were talking to the teacher and she had told us that Max had come to her first thing in the morning to make sure that she knew he was going to sit up front with the family. The class was cleaning up from snack and out of the corner of my eye I see that there are 3 chairs at the front of the class and Max was sliding another one across the room to put beside them. Needless to say Max got to sit with the family...

For her special day we got to tell the class all about her poster and she quietly explained each picture and why it was special to her. Then we read the book Hetty's 100 Hats which has become one of her faves because she likes to recreate the hats that she sees in the book. After that we played the "bunny game" which my kids LOOOOOOVVVVEEE. John actually sang this one to the kids and they hopped around and then went to sleep at the right times, his singing debut went very well! After preschool we went to chick fil a for a surprise special day lunch with Honey, Paw, Grandma, Other Eric, Mandie, and baby Cannen. As a little gift we got her a new box of crayons and she spent most of the afternoon coloring away! We ended the day with her favorite meal, mac & cheese!

This is the picture that she saw on the back of the crayon box and then colored herself... Her ability to draw what she sees is pretty amazing...

Then, while I was cooking dinner she set up a still life of Willy the bear and drew a portrait of him... what?! The finished pic. was amazing!!

One example of hundreds I could share showing Neveah's creativity is this... I was making the bread from this box, she asks for the box and then comes in a few min. later to show me that she turned it into a flower. All of my recycling gets transformed into art work :)

She is starting to look so much older :(

* due to the length of this post I shall save Max's special day for another time!
