Well, my babes turned 4 last month... their birthday seems to have come at a very inconvenient time each year ie... last year we moved the weekend of the big day & this year we just got back from vacation and I had a broken ankle! That did not stop us from celebrating the maximum amount possible! Life is short and is too often full of things that are difficult, sad, or hard... thats why when we have the opportunity to celebrate life I think we should do it really well! What a miracle these 2 are and they bring crazy amounts of joy to our family... their 4th birthday was a truly great day!
The night before John and I decorated the house so that it would be festive when they woke up... In the morning I was waiting for them as they came out of their room to see the decorations & then hit play on the birthday mix (I made everyone listen to this all day long) They immediately put on their birthday crowns and posed for a pic in their super stylish pjs :)
After we all got ready we headed over to Dixie Doughnuts for some treats... we were much hungrier than just doughnuts so we went to River City Diner for breakfast and had them for breakfast dessert!
Cousin Mandie gave them the best b-day gift ever... the day before they got a new baby cousin and we got to go meet him on their big day! Welcome welcome baby Cannen!!!! They were so excited to meet him and have looooved getting to pet his head and help Mandie take care of him at family gatherings!
That afternoon we had a family b-day party (the first of what would end up being 3 parties). Max kept telling everyone all year that he was going to get a bike with pedals for his birthday and a real motorcycle. One of these wishes did come true!
The kids helped me make their cakes which of course they picked out... in a shocking turn of events Neveah picked pink and Max picked blue.
When asked what her favorite part of the day was Neveah responded... "the balloons". Thank you Janet and Walter for overshadowing everything with the gift of balloons :)
These kids were so blessed by all of the sweet and generous gifts... they have looooved playing with, reading, and wearing everything!
The next party we had was for the honorary aunts and uncles that we just love so much! This is one of my favorite things we do all year, our family is so blessed to have this group of people that love our kids and us!!! The hits this year were the ridiculous amount of silly bands & the rocket launcher!
Max is in a silly band stage... we had to put a limit on the amount he is allowed to wear bc it was getting out of control.
"AMERICA!!!" - this is what Max yells every time he shoots it off, thank you Josh Conrad.
A special thanks goes out to Stepha who spent her real birthday celebrating with us! We love you Stepha!!!
Moving on to party #3... Due to the lack of mobility and broken bone I had gone back and forth on if I should have a "kid party" this year or not. I didn't want to do less for the kids b-day bc I was hurt so I decided to go for it and I am so glad we did!!! We did keep it small though so I let each of them invite 2 friends that were super close to their age (let me say that we have many wonderful tiny friends that we would have loved to have, but there was only so much I could handle this year!)
We had an art party (again, had to pick something I could handle)... these were the favors for our friends... water color paper with the paint on it so you can paint anywhere, and a fun fall crafts book :)
Once everyone arrived they decorated the table while me and my assistant (John) finished prepping.
Then the paining began... they each had a bag full of stuff to experiment with and 2 blank canvases for their masterpieces. Everyone wore old clothes and there were no rules... it was a beautiful mess!
The moms decided to stay and play a little bit too
It could not have been a more gorgeous day... we had just the best time!!! After their paintings were finished they headed back to the table to make some paper mosaics before getting cleaned up for cupcakes.
When all the planned activities were over the boys got John to turn it into a baseball party... he was an all star dad and kept them all entertained for quite a while!
It was the perfect way to end the birthday season! So far being 4 suits Max and Neveah really well.
